Yeah the side quests are definitely used as padding to artificially prolong gameplay and add grind/gaps between the story missions. Even though players have the "choice" to leave side quests for later, the alternatives to leveling without side quests in between main quests and rraise your level are very much grinding. I never noticed it.

Youdon't actually track side quests in this one. They are called Mysteries, and can be found on the map but not tracked on your list of quests - for the simple reason being they can be done usually within a couple of minutes there and then. Any you complete disappear from the map, so it's easy to see where on the map you have any left to do. 66.
